Phu Tho Swimming and Diving Club in Ho Chi Minh City is completing the final elements of an upgrade before hosting swimming at the 2026 National Sports Games. Sai Gon Giai Phong Sports reported that competition at the venue is scheduled for November 22–27.

A test event informs the final work

Luong Tich Thien, deputy director of the city's Sports Training and Competition Centre, said the project was more than 90 per cent complete. Remaining work is continuing before delegations arrive.

The venue was tested during the national swimming and diving championships in early October, which also served as a pre-Games event. Staging actual competition allowed managers to assess facilities and identify details requiring adjustment.

The reported completion percentage is a progress assessment, rather than confirmation that every component has finished or received final acceptance.

Changes around the pool and stands

All 300 spectator seats have been replaced. Specialist lighting is intended to distribute illumination evenly while reducing reflections from the water.

Starting blocks, lane markings and wave-reducing lane ropes have also been adjusted to international technical specifications, according to the report. The improvements cover both competition and spectator areas.

A closed-circuit filtration system uses ozone and ultraviolet disinfection, with the stated objectives of maintaining water quality, balancing pH and reducing chemical use. The report does not provide a separate medical evaluation of athlete outcomes.

Managers view the work as preparation for future national and international events as well as the forthcoming Games. The immediate priorities remain assessing the test event and completing outstanding work ahead of November's swimming programme.
