Alexandra Eala has chosen to represent the Philippines at the 2026 Asian Games despite possible WTA sanctions for missing the China Open, VnExpress reported. The Games’ September 27–October 3 tennis competition overlaps with the WTA 1000 event, which is mandatory for her. PHILTA’s exemption request remains undecided.
If it is rejected, Eala could face a fine and a zero-point result for that mandatory event, rather than a direct deduction from existing points. PHILTA supports her decision; no sanction has been confirmed.
