Confirmed squad information
Squad update on 22 September: VFF confirmed Quang Hải’s withdrawal and Minh Khoa’s call-up. Nguyễn Quang Hải will miss the tournament because of a left ankle injury. Coach Kim Sang Sik has added Becamex TP.HCM midfielder Võ Hoàng Minh Khoa; selection does not confirm a starting place.
Update on 22 September: Tuổi Trẻ reported that Ngô Đăng Khoa (Khoa Ngô) and Williams Minh Hoàng arrived at Hanoi’s Grand Plaza hotel on the evening of September 21 to join the national team. This confirms two early arrivals, not that the full squad had assembled.
VFF’s September 21 announcement says centre-back Thành Chung has not recovered from injury and midfielder Ngô Đăng Khoa has been called up. Their different positions mean the call-up cannot be treated as a direct defensive replacement.
Travel update on 23 September: VnExpress reported that the team arrived in Jakarta after a roughly four-hour flight from Nội Bài, then boarded a bus for the approximately 160-kilometre journey to Bandung, where the Group B matches will be played. Midfielder Võ Hoàng Minh Khoa flew directly from Ho Chi Minh City to Indonesia to join the squad after his call-up. This confirms arrival in Jakarta and onward travel; it does not confirm arrival in Bandung, completed training or the starting lineup.
The 23-player Philippines squad published by VnExpress includes forwards Bjorn Kristensen and Sebastian Rasmussen. Selection does not confirm that either will start or establish how coach Carles Cuadrat will organise his attack.
Three questions before kickoff
Who will play in the centre of Vietnam’s defence? Thành Chung’s absence makes the personnel decision worth watching. The starting lineup and actual positioning will answer that question; adding a midfielder does not establish a formation.
How will Vietnam use their preparation time? After reaching Jakarta and continuing by road towards Bandung on 23 September, the interval before 26 September remains short. On-field coordination will be worth observing, without assuming training has already been completed or speculating about fitness.
How will Vietnam handle deliveries into the Philippines attack? Kristensen and Rasmussen are two selected players to watch if used.
What still needs confirmation?
Final match squads, starting lineups, injury updates and any newer kickoff announcement need checking closer to the game. These questions guide observation rather than predict a lineup or result. Follow Vietnam’s fixtures, browse match previews and read the Philippines squad background.
