Bilateral trade under Singapore's statistics
Singapore's goods trade with Vietnam reached about S$42.8 billion in the first nine months of 2026, up 46.8% year on year, according to EnterpriseSG data cited by Vietnam's trade office. The reported total exceeded the full-year 2025 value, while Vietnam remained Singapore's tenth-largest trading partner.
Singapore exported S$23.4 billion to Vietnam, up 14.3%, and imported S$19.4 billion, up 123.2%. These figures are in Singapore dollars and use Singapore's statistical coverage, including re-exports.
Including re-exported goods, Singapore recorded a S$4 billion surplus with Vietnam. Counting only exports of Singapore-origin goods instead produced a S$12.9 billion deficit. The two balances describe different scopes and should not be treated as contradictory measurements of the same goods basket.
September and the wider context
September bilateral trade was nearly S$5.2 billion, a 61.6% increase. Singapore's exports to Vietnam were nearly S$3 billion and imports exceeded S$2.2 billion, rising 35.6% and 115.9% respectively.
Domestic-origin exports to Vietnam were S$657.4 million that month, while re-exports were nearly S$2.3 billion. Their relative size explains why the distinction matters when interpreting the balance.
Singapore's worldwide trade reached nearly S$1.39 trillion over nine months, up 36.9%, with exports of S$743.4 billion and imports of S$646.5 billion. Those wider figures cover the same reported period and are not full-year 2026 forecasts. Singapore's domestic-origin exports and re-exports remain separately identified within the published trade breakdown.
