TSMC recorded third-quarter 2026 net profit of TWD763.1 billion, approximately US$23.6 billion using the conversion reported by VietnamPlus on October 15. Profit rose 68.7 per cent from a year earlier as global demand for artificial intelligence chips supported the contract chipmaker's business.

TSMC is the world's largest contract chip manufacturer.

Another quarterly profit record

The result marked TSMC's sixth consecutive quarterly net-profit record. It exceeded analysts' forecast of TWD739.5 billion and the previous record of TWD706.6 billion established in the second quarter.

Third-quarter revenue increased 50.9 per cent year on year to TWD1.5 trillion. TSMC supplies chips used in products including Nvidia's AI data-centre processors, placing the company within the infrastructure investment cycle supporting artificial intelligence.

Higher planned capital expenditure

TSMC raised its full-year capital expenditure forecast to US$60–64 billion, from the previous US$52–56 billion range. The revised spending outlook concerns investment plans, rather than additional profit already earned.

VietnamPlus reported that the company is investing US$265 billion in chip factories in Arizona and considering potential investment in Texas. Consideration of another location does not establish that a Texas project has been finalised or commissioned.

The report also cited semiconductor equipment producer ASML as saying customers had begun considering orders for 2029–2030. That provides context for longer-term industry planning, while the quarterly financial results describe an already completed reporting period.
