Carlos Alcaraz won the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, beating Alex de Minaur 6-1, 6-4 in the final at the Wiener Stadthalle on 1 November. According to VnExpress, the world No. 3 needed just 97 minutes and did not drop a set in 5 matches. The title completes a perfect record of 16 wins from 16 matches at ATP 500 events in 2026, after earlier wins in Doha and Tokyo.

A one-sided final

De Minaur, the world No. 10, arrived unbeaten in 10 indoor matches in 2026 after winning Rotterdam. He showed his usual resilience, taking 5 of the first 7 games to deuce, but Alcaraz won the key points and broke 3 times to take the first set 6-1.

In the second set De Minaur saved break points in his second, fourth and eighth service games but could not escape in game 10. On his first championship point Alcaraz won a long rally to seal it 6-4. He won 81% of points on his first serve, 29 of 36.

The win takes Alcaraz to 7-0 against De Minaur, and he remains unbeaten against Australian players on the ATP Tour, with 15 wins. It is his fourth tour-level title of the season.

26 straight ATP 500 wins

VnExpress reports that Alcaraz has now won 26 consecutive matches at ATP 500 level since losing to Holger Rune in the Barcelona Open final in April 2025. His 11 titles at this level put him fourth on the list since 2009.

Alcaraz is now 5 titles behind Federer, and if he keeps up his 2026 form at this level the gap could narrow further in the seasons ahead.

What comes next

Alcaraz has 38 wins and 5 defeats in the 2026 season and has already qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin. He heads to the Paris Masters full of confidence after a strong start to the European indoor hard-court swing, and will open against Jiri Lehecka or Alex Michelsen.
