The Philadelphia 76ers say Ariel Hukporti tore his right Achilles tendon during the first quarter of their preseason opener against the New York Knicks. NBA.com reported that an MRI on October 6 confirmed the injury and that the centre was scheduled to undergo surgery. Hukporti sustained the non-contact injury roughly six minutes into his preseason debut for Philadelphia. No return date was announced in the report. The update sets out the planned operation rather than confirming that surgery has already been completed or establishing a recovery timetable.
