VnExpress, citing Spanish newspaper AS, reported that Spain’s Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) considered Lee Kang-in’s challenge on Federico Valverde in the September 20 Madrid derby worthy of a red card. The on-field referee showed no card and VAR did not intervene.
The same cited account said the CTA regarded Dean Huijsen’s dismissal as correct. The Real Madrid defender initially received a yellow card for pulling down Giuliano Simeone, but a VAR review upgraded it to red for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity without attempting to play the ball.
