Aston Villa’s wait for a first home Premier League win of the season continued with a 2–2 draw against Brentford. Yehor Yarmolyuk opened the scoring for the visitors before Nicolas Jackson quickly equalised. John McGinn put Villa ahead in the 77th minute, only for Kristoffer Ajer to respond shortly afterwards. The Guardian reports that Unai Emery saw improvement but remained concerned about his side’s control of matches. Brentford preserved their unbeaten league record at this stage of the campaign.
