Atletico Madrid has announced 18 players honoured on its legends walkway around the Metropolitano stadium. Bong Da Plus reported that each name will appear on a star representing a memorable part of the club's history.
Several generations represented
The selection extends from Alfonso Aparicio, Adrian Escudero and Larbi Ben Barek to Fernando Torres, Diego Godin and Antoine Griezmann. It brings together figures whose contributions span different eras rather than a single successful team.
Other names include Enrique Collar, Adelardo Rodriguez, Luis Aragones, Jose Eulogio Garate, Juan Carlos Arteche, Paulo Futre, Kiko Narvaez, Diego Simeone, Milinko Pantic, Gabi Fernandez, Diego Forlan and Radamel Falcao.
The earliest figures were associated with Atletico's formative domestic titles. Later generations contributed through league, cup and European campaigns, giving supporters several historical periods to recognise.
Different forms of lasting influence
Aragones and Simeone both shaped the club as players and coaches. Simeone, Kiko and Pantic were important figures in the 1995/96 league-and-cup double highlighted in the report.
Torres' career connects his early development at Atletico with a later return after playing abroad. Gabi and Godin are associated with leadership, while Forlan and Falcao helped define successful Europa League campaigns.
Griezmann appears as the club's leading goalscorer, linking a contemporary figure with earlier generations. The new development is the naming of the honoured players around the stadium; the sporting achievements explain their historical significance.
Together, the stars connect the present-day Metropolitano with players who helped establish Atletico's identity over several decades.
