Saudi Arabia's local organising committee says preparations for the 2027 Asian Cup remain on schedule for January 7–February 5. Thanh Nien reported the October 16 Saudi 2027 statement as regional developments continue to be monitored.
Organisational work continues
The committee said it is coordinating with AFC and other stakeholders on venues, facilities, support services and operations. Its stated objective remains preparing an appropriate tournament experience for teams, supporters and media.
The hosts also pledged to maintain resources and readiness under the approved timetable. That describes the current preparation programme; it does not establish that every future risk has disappeared.
AFC keeps options under review
Earlier, AFC president Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa said the organisation was not rushing a decision on whether postponement might be necessary. In October 14 comments from Zurich cited by Thanh Nien, he suggested waiting until late November for further assessment.
He mentioned a possible move to 2028 if required, while noting that conditions could change quickly. That was a contingency option rather than an approved change to the tournament calendar.
The January-to-February dates therefore remain the programme being implemented by the hosts. Monitoring with AFC continues alongside practical preparation rather than replacing it.
The local committee said it would keep reviewing relevant developments and suitable conditions for delivery. The new statement supports the conclusion that preparations have not changed, but neither confirms a postponement nor rules out later decisions by the responsible bodies.
