France Football has released the full men's top 30 for the 2026 Ballon d'Or after the gala at the London Palladium, held early on 27 October Vietnam time, Tuổi Trẻ reported. Harry Kane of Bayern Munich won, the first Englishman to do so since Michael Owen in 2001, ahead of Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal, Rodri and Lionel Messi. The ranking arrives amid awkward questions: the award's website published and then removed articles naming three different winners, a group of Polymarket accounts bet on the exact order of the top five, and some prominent voices in Spanish football have claimed the result was arranged.
The 2026 Ballon d'Or top 10
As published by France Football, compiled from Bongda24h, Tuổi Trẻ and Thanh Niên:

| 2 | Kylian Mbappé | Real Madrid | France |
| 3 | Lamine Yamal | Barcelona | Spain |

From 11th to 20th came Jude Bellingham, Pau Cubarsí, Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha, Declan Rice, Ferran Torres, Vinícius Júnior, Marc Cucurella, João Neves and Willian Pacho, according to Bongda24h's list. Gabriel, Lautaro Martínez, Nuno Mendes, Luis Díaz, Marquinhos, Dayot Upamecano and Bruno Fernandes filled 21st to 27th, with Julián Quiñones, Sadio Mané and William Saliba in the last three places. Arsenal's website confirmed Rice in 15th and Gabriel in 21st.
Tuổi Trẻ counted 9 PSG players in the top 30. World champions Spain had the most players with 6, France had 5 and Portugal 4. Compared with 2025, Mbappé climbed from seventh to second while Yamal slipped from second to third. Thanh Niên noted that Mbappé is the first French player to make the top 10 in nine straight seasons, starting with seventh place in 2017 at AS Monaco, and that Yamal won the young player award for a third year running. Ousmane Dembélé, the 2025 winner, dropped to seventh.
Winner articles taken down
On 26 October, a few hours before the ceremony, France Football's website, which runs the award, published three articles each declaring a different winner: Yamal, Mbappé and Kane, VnExpress reported. The pieces stayed up for about half an hour before being removed, but screenshots had already spread on social media.
France Football said the articles were candidate profiles prepared in advance by BallonDor.com, written for every contender, and published by mistake; it said they could not be read as revealing the result or the final ranking. Tuổi Trẻ, citing BBC Sport, said similar pieces existed for Lionel Messi and for women's contenders Alexia Putellas and Ewa Pajor, and that Spanish daily AS reported places 11 to 20 had appeared early on the award's live system.
Bets that matched the top five
According to Tuổi Trẻ, on 25 October the French financial site Upside flagged unusual activity on the prediction platform Polymarket, with many accounts backing the same scenario: Kane first, Mbappé second, Yamal third, Rodri fourth and Messi fifth. All five places proved correct.
Upside said 12 accounts created between 1 October and 20 October had staked a combined $264,000 on Ballon d'Or markets. Tech outlet Numerama added on 26 October that 7 of the 12 accounts had never bet on any other market and that 6 placed their first bet just 15 minutes after being created. In the market on whether Yamal would finish above Mbappé, the implied probability stood at 80-90% until 8 October, then fell to 55% on 9 October and 28% on 22 October. Tuổi Trẻ stressed there is no proof that the accounts belong to one person, or that whoever placed the bets had seen the voting results.
Fix claims and France Football's answer
Mundo Deportivo editor-in-chief Santi Nolla said it felt like a tacit deal to hand the award to an English player in London and argued that World Cup 2026 winner Yamal deserved it, while former Real Madrid player Guti mocked the coincidence of a Londoner winning in London, Dân trí reported.
Vincent Garcia, France Football's editor-in-chief and director of the 2026 Ballon d'Or according to Thanh Niên, told L'Équipe TV after the ceremony that the gap between Kane and Mbappé was even smaller than the 41 points that separated Rodri and Vinícius in 2024, VnExpress reported. He said Mbappé had led the race for a long time before Kane overtook him, that Rodri had taken votes from Yamal, splitting the Spanish vote, and that he himself had voted for a player who did not win.
What comes next
Garcia said the detailed points for every candidate will be published in France Football magazine and on L'Équipe's website on 31 October, according to VnExpress. Because jurors are asked not to reveal their ballots before the magazine comes out, the figures on 31 October should show the real margin between Kane and Mbappé and how far the vote split between Rodri and Yamal.
