The Southern Women’s Museum opened its exhibition “Chiec ao ba ba – Duom tinh phuong Nam” on October 9 ahead of Vietnamese Women’s Day. Bao Van Hoa reports that photographs and documents explore the traditional garment’s development and its place in southern Vietnam’s work, daily life and collective memory. A related fashion program features designer Nguyen Minh Cong and student collections, showing how contemporary design can draw on the ao ba ba’s cultural heritage.
