Vietnamese Deputy Finance Minister Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc met an EU–ASEAN Business Council delegation led by vice-chairman Noel Clehane on November 4, the finance ministry reported. Discussions covered the investment environment, business concerns and potential cooperation with European companies.
Policy questions across financial sectors
The delegation included European business representatives and EuroCham vice-chairman Nguyen Hai Minh. Vietnamese participants represented foreign investment, securities, tax policy and administration, debt management, private-sector development and insurance supervision.
Ngoc described the council as a link between European businesses and Vietnam’s government. She presented the meeting as an opportunity to exchange development priorities and support a stable, transparent and sustainable business environment.
Companies raised questions about the securities market’s upgrade, investment attraction, taxation, the budget and insurance. Specialist ministry departments provided responses and updated information on the proposals discussed.
Interest in the financial centre
Clehane described Vietnam as an important Asian partner for European businesses. In his assessment, political stability, economic restructuring, export competitiveness and digital transformation provide opportunities, particularly in manufacturing.
He said Vietnam’s international financial centre was attracting substantial interest, including from companies considering investment funds there. He expected the meeting to help council members better understand possible cooperation.
The published account centres on policy dialogue, business proposals and interest in future investment. Its practical focus was matching those questions with the ministry units responsible for the relevant sectors and sharing information about Vietnam’s development direction.
