Brazil are preparing to pursue their first Women's World Cup title when they host the tournament in 2027. FIFA's October 17 team profile connects that ambition with the country's uninterrupted qualification record and recent progress under Arthur Elias.

The hosts qualify automatically. The competition will be the first Women's World Cup in South America, with the draw scheduled for December 11, 2026, at Rio de Janeiro's Museum of Modern Art.

Recent tournament progress

Brazil won silver at Paris 2024 after eliminating France and Spain before losing the final 1–0 to the United States. They followed that campaign with a ninth Copa America Femenina title in 2025.

The final against Colombia finished 4–4 after extra time, and Brazil won the shootout 5–4. Marta scored twice and was named the tournament's best player, while Amanda Gutierres shared the scoring lead with six goals.

FIFA also highlights Kerolin, Angelina and goalkeeper Lorena. The final 2027 squad has not been announced, and emerging player Dudinha is recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

A title still missing

Brazil's best World Cup finish remains second place in 2007, when they beat the United States 4–0 in the semi-final before losing 2–0 to Germany. Their 2023 campaign ended in the group stage.

Marta holds the competition's scoring record with seventeen goals; Cristiane has eleven. FIFA's total of ten qualifications includes the forthcoming 2027 edition, rather than ten completed tournaments. Elias, appointed in September 2023, now aims to translate recent achievements into a successful home campaign.
