Como beat Sassuolo 2-0 at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on matchday 8 of Serie A on 24 October 2026, three days after their 4-1 Champions League win over Manchester United. Greek striker Anastasios (Tasos) Douvikas scored both goals after the break, in the 49th and 60th minutes, and Bongdaplus reported that the result lifts Cesc Fabregas's side into the Serie A top four.
Como's official website said the victory made it "three consecutive wins in all competitions" and took the club to 17 league points. Alberto Aquilani's Sassuolo stay on 8 points, 14th in ESPN's table. Davide Di Marco was the referee.
Two goals ruled out, then a triple change
The first half ended goalless even though both teams found the net. Football Italia and Italpress reported that Lucas Da Cunha's effort for Como after seven minutes was ruled out for offside. Just before half-time, in the 43rd minute according to Italpress, Darryl Bakola turned in Kieron Bowie's ball across for Sassuolo, only for the goal to be chalked off because Bowie had been offside earlier in the move.
Nemanja Matic headed wide from a free kick, and Italpress said a Sassuolo handball appeal against Kaiki in the 29th minute was not upheld by VAR. Football Italia explained that the Como defender was falling and his arm was in a natural position.
Football Italia wrote that Fabregas "was not satisfied and made a triple change during the break". Luis Milla replaced Samuele Ricci, Jacobo Ramón came on for Willy Kambwala and Jayden Addai for Martin Baturina, and Italpress credited those changes with lifting Como's tempo.
The breakthrough came in the 49th minute: in Italpress's account, Maxence Caqueret delivered the ball from the left and Douvikas only had to push it over the line. On the hour, Kaiki intercepted a pass in midfield, surged down the left and cut the ball back from the by-line for Douvikas to slide in for his second. According to Italpress, it was the Greek forward's fifth Serie A goal of the season. Football Italia said Milla should have added a third when he poked wide from close range after Sassuolo panicked playing out from the back.
