Countdown to Heaven, the fifth Detective Conan feature film, was released in Japan in 2001. A Tuoi Tre Online retrospective on September 9, 2026 revisited the film through its two parallel threats: a murder investigation and the danger that the Black Organisation will discover Haibara's identity.

Gin and Vodka appear while Conan and his friends are visiting a twin-tower complex. Haibara, who once used the codename Sherry within the organisation, must keep her past concealed. Their presence gives the characters a problem that extends beyond identifying the killer.

The story then turns the towers into an escape challenge. Explosions and fires isolate the upper floors, forcing Conan to find a way to get his friends out. Ran and the young detectives also take part in the effort to survive and help one another.

By keeping the investigation and action within the same setting, the film brings its different tensions together. For viewers returning to earlier entries in the franchise, it offers Conan, Haibara and prominent Black Organisation members in one story, with the central mystery developing alongside a more personal danger for the group.
