After receiving a first-round bye, the Serbian exited his opening match in 87 minutes. Hurkacz broke once in each set and produced 13 aces and 28 winners to record his first victory in nine meetings with Djokovic. The defeat came three days after Djokovic’s Beijing title and cost him an opportunity to add points in the ATP Finals qualification race.
