Frédéric Dusart has taken charge of Türkiye's women's national basketball team with immediate effect, adding an international role to his recently acquired position at Galatasaray Cagdas Faktoring. His immediate assignment is to pursue qualification for FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2027.
Change before the next qualifiers
Dusart replaces Umana Reyer Venezia coach Andrea Mazzon, whose time in the national-team job lasted less than 12 months. The change comes before the second round of qualifying, rather than after the next set of games.
Türkiye have been drawn in Group I with Israel, Montenegro and Poland. Matches are scheduled across the coming November window and the final window in February 2027. The new coach will therefore take responsibility for preparing the side for two distinct periods of qualifying action.
A place at the final tournament remains the objective. The appointment confirms who will lead the campaign, while qualification will still have to be secured on the court.
Experience across several leagues
Dusart arrives from a recent international assignment as an assistant coach with Belgium at the 2026 Women's Basketball World Cup. That tournament adds national-team experience to a career that has included club work in several countries.
He previously won the EuroCup Women and domestic honours in France with Villeneuve d'Ascq LM. His record also includes trophy-winning spells with Castors Braine in Belgium and coaching experience in China's WCBA.
Those different settings form the background to his new responsibilities. His next practical task is preparing Türkiye for its three identified Group I opponents while also managing his work at Galatasaray.
