Gia Lai has designated the memorial to fallen soldiers of Border Post 649 in Ia Dom as a provincial historical site. Located on the former post's grounds, it preserves battle traces and commemorates personnel who died defending the border.
The protected area covers 14,172.2 square metres across two protection zones. Ia Dom authorities will manage the site in coordination with border forces. The designation is provincial, rather than national heritage status or a UNESCO inscription.
