Four events and an international field
The Golden Racket international table tennis tournament will return after a seven-year interruption. It is scheduled for November 5-8 at Hồ Xuân Hương Sports Hall in Xuân Hòa ward, Ho Chi Minh City, with men's and women's team and singles competitions.
Organisers announced 121 athletes across 19 men's teams and 11 women's teams. Those are team totals, not 30 countries. The international contingent comprises 18 teams, including 12 men's and six women's entries from Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Laos.
Domestic clubs named in the announcement include Ho Chi Minh City, the Army, CAND-T&T, Hanoi and Hai Phong. City table tennis federation chairman Mai Bá Hùng said the return answered supporters' expectations and formed part of activities associated with the 2026 National Sports Games.
Prize fund and participation conditions
The total prize fund is 416 million dong. Team champions are offered 60 million dong, while singles champions receive 40 million dong. Spectators will be admitted free of charge.
National-team players face a nearby training and competition commitment, with the Southeast Asian championship in Malaysia scheduled for November 9-14. Reports on the same event differ over whether their return to club duty can be arranged. Their participation should therefore not be presented as a guaranteed national-player lineup.
The revived tournament is expected to provide valuable international competition for Vietnamese players. Its dates, registered scale and awards are announced plans; the matches and championship outcomes are still ahead.
