The second Long Son Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for October 24 at Long Thanh Golf Club in Dong Nai, with approximately 168 players expected. Sai Gon Giai Phong reported that it will raise support for disadvantaged residents of Long Son commune in Ho Chi Minh City.
Competition linked to community support
Local authorities, Long Son Petrochemicals, the Ba Ria–Vung Tau Golf Club, businesses and sponsors are supporting the event. Organisers also see it as an opportunity for golfers and partners to build connections around community work.
The figure of 168 describes planned participation for 2026. No results or final fundraising total for this year's event have been announced in the report.
Contributions will be received, managed and allocated by Long Son's Vietnam Fatherland Front committee through local welfare funds. The announced arrangement calls for transparent use for the intended purposes.
Building on the first tournament
The inaugural event took place on October 26, 2025, at Sonadezi Chau Duc, attracting 132 golfers and support from 36 organisations, businesses and individuals. More than VND1.2 billion was transferred to local funds.
Those funds supported activities including health insurance cards, housing repairs for disadvantaged households and policy beneficiaries, care for older residents and children's programmes. Some assistance remains in progress.
The VND1.2 billion figure belongs to the 2025 event and is not an amount already raised by the forthcoming tournament. Local authorities and the petrochemical company also signed a cooperation memorandum during the first edition. Organisers hope the tournament will become an annual link between sport and community responsibility.
