Golfer Aeyavarin Pradubyart, known as Aeya, died on the morning of 2 November after being struck by lightning at a course in Bang Nam Priao district, Chachoengsao, Thailand. Tuổi Trẻ, citing Khaosod, reported that the incident occurred at about 16:00 on 1 November and also injured a 31-year-old female caddie.

Family questions remain allegations

Aeya’s mother and grandmother said they heard repeated lightning before the competition was stopped. They questioned why players had continued as the weather worsened.

Their accounts are family testimony, not independent findings about event management. Relatives also alleged that no ambulance was stationed at the course and that transport to hospital took too long. The report explicitly said there was no independent conclusion about the waiting time or its effect on survival.

Aeya received initial assistance before being taken to Bang Nam Priao Hospital and then Buddhasothorn Hospital. She remained critically ill overnight and died the following morning, separating the date of the strike from the date of her death.

Organisers verify circumstances

According to Khaosod as relayed by Tuổi Trẻ, the organisers and course said they were gathering and checking information. A third round scheduled for 7 November was postponed. The article recorded no detailed response by the evening of 2 November to the allegations about delayed suspension and ambulance provision.

Thailand’s sports authority also planned discussions with amateur and professional golf associations about safety. These responses do not themselves establish legal responsibility.

The next developments are verified information from that process and the outcome of the safety discussions.
