The Premier League has confirmed an independent commission’s findings that Manchester City breached financial rules over nine seasons, the Guardian reported. The article said the commission found that commercial and image-rights arrangements had inflated revenue and reduced costs by more than £900 million.
City denied wrongdoing and said it would appeal by the October 2 deadline, alleging material errors in the findings. Sanctions are to be considered separately. A points deduction, relegation or the treatment of past titles has not been decided.
