Harvey Barnes leads the Premier League's maximum-speed figures for 2026/27 after nine rounds, according to the competition's November 3 update. His 36.21 km/h effort came against Aston Villa on October 18, rather than on the publication date.
Peak speed and sprint frequency differ
Bradley Barcola follows at 35.93 km/h, with Antoine Semenyo at 35.74 km/h. Barnes was the season's first player to exceed 36 km/h in the league's figures.
Barcola has two entries among the fastest recorded runs, including 35.50 km/h against Arsenal. Thierno Barry also reached 35.50 km/h against Hull. A table of runs can therefore contain more than one entry for the same player.
For sprint frequency, Adrien Truffert leads with 185, ahead of Leif Davis on 172 and Milos Kerkez on 166. Those totals measure how often players sprint, whereas maximum speed records their highest individual reading.
Liverpool lead the team average
Liverpool average 118.37 sprints per 90 minutes, ahead of Brentford's 111.36. Crystal Palace have the lowest figure at 88.85. These are running-intensity measures rather than a complete assessment of footballing quality.
The league also identifies Truffert's 38 sprints in the 1-1 draw with Everton in late August, distinguishing a single-game performance from season totals.
Further rounds will provide the next update and may change the rankings. For now, Barnes leads peak speed and Liverpool lead average team frequency, two conclusions drawn from separate measures.
