Huyen Trang, winner of the 2013 Sao Mai folk-music category, received the “Pioneering Artist in Safeguarding and Promoting Folk Music 2026” award in Athens on September 22, or early September 23 in Vietnam. The award recognizes her work to preserve, practice and bring folk-music values to wider audiences.
Ioannis Maronitis, president of EFUCA and of the UNESCO Club Association of Piraeus and Islands in Greece, presented the award. The presenting body belongs to the UNESCO clubs network, so this was not an official award conferred by UNESCO itself.
