Nguyen Thi Anh Vien returned to competition at 30 and won the 200m backstroke in 2:18.15 at the swimming and diving meet preceding the 2026 National Sports Games. Thanh Nien said she represented Military Sports Center 4 at Phu Tho Swimming Club in Ho Chi Minh City.

She is competing in a limited selection of events on this return. The report also cited swimming officials saying she is registered for the Games in November. Her latest medal belongs to the preparatory meet, rather than the forthcoming Games themselves.
