The Vietnam Table Tennis Federation's executive committee has elected Quế Đình Nguyên to its standing committee and named him a vice president for the 2024-2029 term. Sài Gòn Giải Phóng reported that committee members met in Ho Chi Minh City to discuss personnel and the federation's work.

Nguyên is a deputy editor-in-chief of Nhân Dân newspaper. Phan Anh Tuấn, who is responsible for table tennis at Vietnam's sports authority, was also elected to the standing committee. The meeting reviewed the federation's activities during the first nine months of 2026.

A focus on young players

Looking towards 2027, the committee identified developing players from under-13 to under-17 age groups as a strategic priority. It plans long-term training at home and abroad to improve physical preparation, technical and tactical skills, and competitive psychology.

The federation also aims to strengthen high-performance competition and prepare a squad for Olympic qualifying events, according to the report. These are stated objectives and plans rather than a list of athletes who have already qualified.

The current term

The newspaper said the federation is continuing to strengthen its specialist committees, communications and use of digital technology for both community and elite table tennis. Those activities form part of the seventh-term programme.

At the federation's congress in August 2024, Nguyễn Xuân Vũ was re-elected president. Four vice presidents were elected at that congress: Đỗ Đức Hoàng, Trần Cảnh Tuấn, Tống Đức Thuận and Từ Nhân Luân. Nguyễn Nam Hải was named general secretary. The additions were reported after the subsequent executive committee meeting.
