Marc Marquez won the Malaysian Grand Prix main race to reach 399 points and extend his MotoGP advantage over Jorge Martin to 44. Sài Gòn Giải Phóng reported that Pedro Acosta finished second and Alex Marquez third at Sepang.
A lead established early
Marc passed Alex at the opening corner before his brother briefly retook first place. Alex then ran wide, allowing Marc back in front. The eventual winner maintained the advantage to the finish.
Acosta followed Alex for several laps before passing him midway through the race. He finished 4.172 seconds behind Marc, with Alex 5.955 seconds off the winner. Their contest settled the remaining podium positions without dislodging the leader.
The main-race result should be distinguished from the sprint earlier in the weekend, which Acosta had won. They were separate races at the same venue.
A points advantage, not yet a settled title
Martin attempted Saturday morning practice but subsequently missed qualifying and withdrew. SGGP linked the decision to his wrist problem following a Phillip Island crash, without providing a new medical assessment of his return.
Martin described his championship prospects as effectively over, but the mathematical contest had not been settled. His assessment and an officially secured title are different things.
The report listed Qatar at Lusail as the next round. It mentioned safety and security concerns without announcing cancellation. The next developments are the Qatar programme, Martin’s availability and the points position after the following race, rather than an assumption that Malaysia had already decided the championship.
