The State Bank of Vietnam and the tax authority have agreed on a mechanism for sharing tax data with the National Credit Information Centre, or CIC. The data is being considered as an additional source for assessing customers alongside credit histories, potentially helping lenders with underwriting, risk management and credit decisions.
Deputy Governor Pham Tien Dung said the cooperation is only at an initial stage and must prioritize security and personal-data protection. Authorities have not disclosed which tax fields would be shared. The report therefore does not mean that all banks have already begun evaluating borrowers with tax records.
