Possible Love has attracted strong early reactions at the Venice Film Festival for its exploration of intimacy and class. Lee Chang Dong's film, featuring Jo In Sung and Jeon Do Yeon, received around seven minutes of applause after its competition screening.

The story centres on two households with very different circumstances. Mi Ok and Ho Seok face financial difficulties after he loses his job. They meet documentary director Ye Ji, who wants to film the experiences of dismissed workers. Their connection with her and her wealthy husband gradually moves beyond the professional setting.

Through those relationships, the film considers empathy, desire and a storyteller's responsibility towards other people's lives. It is Lee's first feature since Burning in 2018. Reviews cited by Tuoi Tre paid particular attention to Jeon Do Yeon's performance and the director's handling of layered relationships.

At the time of the report, the film held a 100% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes from 15 reviews. That is an early critical response, not a Venice award result. One of 21 films competing for the Golden Lion and South Korea's chosen Oscar submission, it is scheduled for a domestic cinema release on September 23 and a global Netflix release on November 6.
