Real Madrid has called for Javier Tebas to resign as La Liga president and RFEF vice-president following a dispute over comments about Real Madrid TV. VnExpress reported on October 16 that the club objected to his comparison with Nazi-era propaganda techniques.
Different accounts of the remarks
Tebas argued that the club's channel selects incidents supporting its position and repeatedly emphasises perceived unfair treatment. He also criticised its treatment of refereeing decisions.
According to the report, he said the comparison concerned propaganda methods rather than ideology or Real supporters. The club rejected that explanation and described the remarks as incompatible with a senior sports official's responsibilities.
Real's statement also criticised what it regards as repeated attacks on its leadership and media outlets. Those positions remain claims made by the parties within the dispute.
Wider demands for reform
The club called for changes to Spanish football's refereeing, governance, oversight and disciplinary structures. Its statement linked those demands to calls for transparency over the Negreira case.
That case concerns Barcelona's payments to a company connected with former refereeing committee vice-president Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira. Reference to it does not itself establish wrongdoing by any party.
Real said it had asked UEFA to clarify the payments and take measures protecting competition integrity, while criticising the response of La Liga and RFEF.
The reported development is the club's demand that Tebas leave both posts. It does not establish that he has resigned or that governing bodies have approved a leadership change.
