Spain face Mexico and the United States meet Samoa among four remaining U17 Women's World Cup opening fixtures scheduled for Monday, October 19, in Morocco. FIFA's October 18 preview also lists Kenya against China and Australia against Chile.

The matches will complete the relevant opening round. Earlier achievements provide context rather than points already earned in this tournament.

A repeat pairing and US ambition

Spain and Mexico contested the 2018 final, when Spain won their first title. Spain reached Morocco through the European U17 Championship semi-finals.

Mexico won three qualifying games and scored seventeen goals. Forward Citlalli Reyes is approaching a third tournament appearance, with a possible appearance-record opportunity dependent on her subsequent involvement.

The United States enter an eighth U17 campaign without having won the title. Ciara Crinion's team scored 32 unanswered goals during a perfect qualifying run. Samoa return after last year's debut, when they scored but earned no points.

Other opening tests

Kenya secured their first World Cup victory against Mexico in 2024 and qualified unbeaten. China, coached by Ma Xiaoxu, seek another step after first reaching the knockout rounds at the previous edition.

Australia are preparing for their debut after qualifying through Asian competition. Chile make their third appearance and second since 2010, having relied on a late qualifying goal against Ecuador.
