Spain won the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup by defeating North Korea 4-3 in a penalty shootout. The final in Poland remained 0-0 after 120 minutes, and goalkeeper Laia Lopez saved two North Korean attempts in the shootout.
North Korea therefore did not retain the title it had won two years earlier. The match itself ended scoreless; the championship was decided on penalties.
