Trại buôn người remained at the top of Vietnam's box office following the October 16 release round, according to Box Office Vietnam figures cited by Tuổi Trẻ. At the report's snapshot, the film had earned VND458 billion after more than three weeks and retained around 3,200 daily screenings.
Quỷ ăn tạng 4: Hổ tinh opened second with VND25 billion and approximately 2,600 screenings a day.
Thai prequel builds on a familiar franchise
The latest Tee Yod instalment is a prequel featuring the first meeting between Yak and Sergeant Paphan. Its fictional story follows a search for a missing man in Khao Khwang forest, where the group encounter a supernatural tiger spirit.
Tuổi Trẻ identifies the forest atmosphere and Nadech Kugimiya's return as the younger Yak as attractions. Its review also argues that repeated searches and threats lack sufficient narrative development, reducing tension as the story progresses.
The shape-shifting antagonist provides the central supernatural danger for the group as they travel deeper into the forest.
Proposed T13 version has no release date
The producers of Trại buôn người plan an additional T13 version for viewers aged 13 and above, alongside the existing T18 cut. No release date has been fixed.
Other films in the weekend's top five included Shaun the sheep: Quái lạ ghé nhà with a VND4.5 billion opening, Án mạng xém hoàn hảo with VND14 billion after 10 days, and Verity with a VND1.7 billion opening.
The report describes the difficulty facing smaller releases when falling ticket sales lead to fewer screenings. That context highlights the importance of timing and audience positioning, while the reported figures show Trại buôn người retaining its lead at that point.
