Zhao Wei says she has no current plan to resume acting and is exploring an interest in AI filmmaking. VnExpress reports the remarks from an interview with Singapore's Zaobao, in which the actor reflected on life after her work in China's entertainment industry contracted.

A different pace of life

She described spending much of recent years at home or travelling with friends, declining event invitations and posting less on social media. She has also stopped her wine business.

Zhao said she now finds satisfaction more readily in small things and prefers a quieter rhythm to her earlier work schedule. Asked about acting again, she left the possibility open without setting a plan. Visiting unfamiliar places currently matters more to her, while AI filmmaking interests her as a new area to study.

Career context without a comeback announcement

VnExpress recalls her prominence in titles including My Fair Princess, Romance in the Rain, Painted Skin and Shaolin Soccer. It also notes that films featuring her were removed from platforms and her name disappeared from some awards information from 2021 onward.

The report states that authorities have not publicly explained the reason. The interview therefore does not establish either the cause of those restrictions or an official clearance to return.

The next professional development would require a concrete project announcement from Zhao or its producers. For now, her remarks describe how she is living and what she is studying, while leaving an acting comeback without a timetable.
