Trương Nam Tiến won the men’s 50kg karate gold at Vietnam’s 2026 National Games on the morning of 5 November, Tuổi Trẻ reported. Nguyễn Minh Tuyên of Ninh Bình took silver at the Tân Thuận ward sports hall in Ho Chi Minh City.

Hosts add a second kumite title

Nam Tiến’s victory followed Nguyễn Chí Thanh’s earlier gold in the men’s 80kg division, also in kumite, or sparring. At the time of the newspaper’s report, Ho Chi Minh City was the first delegation to reach two karate gold medals at these Games.

Phạm Thị Đào won the women’s 47kg title for Phú Thọ, which had one gold and one bronze in the interim figures cited by Tuổi Trẻ. The People’s Public Security team stood second with one gold and two silvers, one silver ahead of Bắc Ninh. Those positions were a snapshot during competition, not the final medal table.

Competition continues through 8 November

The karate programme brings together 390 athletes from 28 delegations, according to the newspaper. They are contesting 25 sets of medals, with the event scheduled to continue through 8 November.

The programme also includes kata, the performance discipline. On 4 November, Nguyễn Ngọc Trâm of People’s Public Security retained the women’s individual kata title by defeating Nguyễn Thị Quỳnh Như of Bắc Ninh. That result preceded the 5 November kumite wins.

The morning results form only part of the multi-day event. Outcomes of later finals require separate confirmation, and the full standings will depend on the remaining competitions.
