VFF president Tran Quoc Tuan visited Vietnam's U15 squad on October 16 before its trip to the FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival in Azerbaijan. The meeting took place at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre as the team completed its preparation programme.

Friendlies provide preparation tests

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan reported on training and tactical adjustments. According to VFF, the squad beat Hai Phong U16s 8-1 and Viettel U16s 5-4 in two friendlies used to assess cooperation and progress.

Those results belong to the training programme rather than the forthcoming international tournament. The coaching staff are continuing to adapt their work to its requirements.

The federation president presented the trip as an opportunity to gain international experience and build the technical foundation for later youth competitions.

Adapting to a different format

Players were asked to prepare for eight-a-side football, artificial turf and adjusted rules. Basic technique, tactical understanding, combinations and decision-making were identified as priorities.

The visit also emphasised discipline, fair play and respect for officials and opponents, alongside responsibility during international exchanges.

VFF lists the Azerbaijan event for October 22–31 with 192 U15 teams. Vietnam are in Group R with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brunei, Guyana, Iran and Mauritius. Their tournament matches have yet to be played.

The federation connects the experience with longer-term development, including preparation towards the 2027 U17 Asian Cup. The older U17 side's World Cup qualification was offered as encouragement, while the immediate task remains learning through training and competition.
