Vietnam's under-15 team lost 6-3 to Bosnia & Herzegovina in their first match at the FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival 2026 in Azerbaijan on 24 October 2026. Coach Hoàng Anh Tuấn's side were 4-0 down in the first half and pulled three goals back, but never got level with the European team.

SGGP reports that the tournament, played eight-a-side, kicked off in Azerbaijan on 24 October, with FIFA president Gianni Infantino watching the opening-day games. Bongdaplus described Bosnia & Herzegovina as the strongest team in the group, and Dân trí said their squad draws on young players from the academies of Sarajevo, Borac Banja Luka and Zrinjski Mostar.

An early collapse, then a fightback

Bosnia & Herzegovina pressed high from the start and won most one-on-one duels with their physical edge, Bongdaplus wrote. Dân trí and Bongda24h both have them scoring in the second minute and making it 2-0 in the fifth, but they describe the opener differently: Dân trí says it came from a corner, Bongda24h from a quick counter after Vietnam lost the ball. As Vietnam pushed forward, two more counter-attacks made it 4-0, in the 11th and 15th minutes according to Bongda24h.

Trương Tuấn Bảo pulled one back from a corner before half-time to make it 4-1, according to Bongdaplus and Dân trí, and a set piece early in the second half cut the gap to 4-2. Bosnia & Herzegovina went 5-2 up, Vietnam replied about a minute later to make it 5-3, and Skoko sealed the 6-3 win in the 32nd minute, Bongda24h reports.

Bongdaplus still saw positive signs in a side that refused to give up. SGGP said the young players grew into the game, combined better as it went on and showed they could adapt to the eight-a-side format.
