Vietnam have called up 26 players for the 2026 Gia Lai VTV Cup, with Dinh Hong Vinh continuing to lead the under-23 team. VFF describes a combination of international experience and younger options for its development programme.
Experience from different levels
Seven players return after the 2026 Asian Games: Cao Van Binh, Le Nguyen Hoang, Dinh Quang Kiet, Le Dinh Long Vu, Le Van Thuan, Nguyen Luong Tuan Khai and Nguyen Quoc Toan.
The squad also includes Tran Thanh Trung, Williams Minh Hoang and Ngo Dang Khoa. Minh Hoang and Dang Khoa recently attended the FIFA ASEAN Cup in Indonesia with the senior national team.
VnExpress links their allocation to the under-23 squad with preparations for the 2027 programme. It also recalls that Thanh Trung, a midfielder with experience at Ninh Binh, withdrew from the Asian Games squad because of a thigh injury.
Three November assessments
Vinh previously led Vietnam at the Asian Games and other international events. He takes charge of the younger side while Kim Sang-sik works with the senior team during the November FIFA window.
Thanh Nien lists Vietnam's matches against Thailand on 10 November, Singapore on 12 November and Qatar on 14 November in Pleiku. Those fixtures provide opportunities to assess personnel and combinations.
VFF identifies the subsequent targets as the 34th SEA Games, the 2027 ASEAN U23 Championship and qualifying for the 2028 AFC U23 Asian Cup. Preparation for those tasks continues through the Gia Lai event, with related coverage at Vietnam national team fixtures.
