Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya have been cast as the leads in Prime Video's Fourth Wing adaptation, according to Variety. McGregor will play Violet Sorrengail, while Sakraya takes the role of Xaden Riorson.
Amazon declined to comment to the publication. The casting therefore remains attributed to Variety's reporting rather than an Amazon announcement. No first-season premiere date was provided.
The reported leads
McGregor is known for playing Mirren Sinclair Sheffield in We Were Liars, with earlier credits including Obi-Wan Kenobi and High School. Her upcoming work also includes Life Is Strange.
Sakraya's German and international credits include Rhinegold, Tribes of Europa, Warrior Nun and Those About to Die. The report also noted a planned appearance in One Piece season three. Those are professional credits, not released images of their Fourth Wing characters.
Adapting The Empyrean
The novel follows twenty-year-old Violet into dragon-rider training at Basgiath War College after her mother, a military general, redirects her future. This setting belongs to Yarros's fictional world.
Fourth Wing was published in May 2023, followed by Iron Flame in November 2023 and Onyx Storm in January 2025. September's Threshing Day contains thirteen stories from the same universe. Titles and release dates for the planned fourth and fifth books remain unannounced.
Amazon ordered the series in May. Meredith Averill is showrunner and executive producer, and Kilter Films' Lisa Joy directs the pilot. Outlier Society and Premeditated Productions are also involved.
The available report establishes casting and creative-team details, without confirming completed filming, an episode count or a release schedule.
