Sarina Wiegman recalled Ella Toone for England's Women's World Cup playoff against Greece after Lucy Bronze returned to Chelsea with a minor injury, The Guardian reported on October 8. The Manchester United midfielder had been omitted from the initial squad and arranged training in Spain. Wiegman praised her positive response and commitment. The recall brought Toone back into the squad without confirming a place in the starting lineup.
