Eleven-year-old Yuki Kurihara won the Puyo Puyo Champions esports event at the 2026 Asian Games, beating South Korea's Kang Dong-shin 10-2 in the final. The Japanese player had defeated a Thai opponent 10-1 in the semifinal.
BongdaPlus cited AP in suggesting Kurihara may be the youngest Asian Games gold medallist, while noting that a complete historical comparison is still needed. That age record should not yet be presented as officially established.
