Mikel Arteta hopes Martin Zubimendi can be available for Arsenal's visit to Nottingham Forest, but has not confirmed his participation. In the club's October 16 update, the manager said another training session would precede the assessment, while Piero Hincapie may need more time.
Different stages after ankle injuries
Zubimendi and Hincapie hurt their ankles during training at the Emirates following the Leeds match and missed the midweek win over Lille.
Arteta said Zubimendi looked considerably better, although the staff still needed to assess him after the next session. That does not confirm a place in the starting lineup.
Hincapie was also progressing, but the manager estimated another week or two before a possible return. The timeframe is a press-conference assessment rather than a guaranteed recovery deadline.
Further checks for Tzolis and Saliba
Christos Tzolis sustained a muscular injury with Greece. Arteta said a further MRI showed encouraging progress and expressed hope of having him back within a few weeks.
William Saliba continues rehabilitation from the back injury that has kept him out since France's World Cup campaign. Another MRI is expected the following week to assess healing.
The manager explained that Saliba missed Arsenal's squad photograph because of a medical appointment, adding that the club hopes to arrange another picture with everyone present.
The four cases therefore involve different stages of recovery. Encouraging updates do not remove the need for further training and medical assessment before match selection.
