Công an Hà Nội (CAHN) flew to Shanghai on 24 October 2026 to prepare for their third league-phase game in the AFC Champions League Elite, away to Shanghai Port, SGGP reported. CAHN are still without a point in the competition after two defeats. Striker Nguyễn Đình Bắc did not travel with the squad, according to Bongdaplus sources.
The match will kick off at 17:00 Vietnam time on 27 October 2026, according to the schedule published by Bongdaplus, and SGGP says it will be played at the Pudong stadium.
Two games, no points
SGGP notes that CAHN lost both of their opening games to Japanese clubs, 4-1 to Gamba Osaka and 1-0 to Kashima Antlers, while their hosts have 4 points from two games. The paper describes Shanghai Port as a strong side with several naturalised players, aiming to beat CAHN and stay in the race for the top places alongside the Japanese teams.
Form is a wider problem. SGGP counts three games in a row without a win for CAHN across domestic and continental competition and says the squad's confidence has dipped. In the V.League they lost 2-1 to Hà Nội in round 4 and drew 1-1 with Thanh Hóa in round 5 on 22 October, according to Sportmonks data.
Coach Polking, quoted by SGGP, said there was no time to be sad or to complain, and that the team would keep working and fighting for the games ahead. He added that the players needed to rest and recover properly before flying to China for an important match.
Where CAHN stand in the V.League
According to Sportmonks data after the games of 24 October, CAHN are third with 10 points from 5 matches, one point behind leaders Sông Lam Nghệ An (SLNA). The top of the table is tight:
| Pos | Team | Played | Points | Goal difference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | SLNA | 5 | 11 | +6 |
| 2 | Nam Định | 5 | 10 | +7 |
| 3 | Công an Hà Nội | 5 | 10 | +5 |
| 4 | Ninh Bình | 4 | 10 | +5 |
| 5 | Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh | 5 | 10 | +2 |
Ninh Bình have played a game fewer and will host Công an TP.HCM at 18:00 on 25 October 2026. CAHN's first five league results, per Sportmonks: a 2-0 win over Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh, 1-0 at Thể Công Viettel, 3-0 at Thành phố Đồng Nai, a 2-1 home defeat by Hà Nội and the 1-1 draw with Thanh Hóa. That is one point from the last two rounds.
Why Đình Bắc stayed behind
Bongdaplus says the decision to leave Đình Bắc out of the trip had nothing to do with injury. Coach Mano Polking wants the 22-year-old, born in 2004, to get more rest and recovery after a long run of games in several competitions, so instead of travelling he went to Ho Chi Minh City to train individually with doctor Trần Huy Thọ. The forward has just scored his first V.League goal of 2026/27, in the 1-1 draw with Thanh Hóa (match report).
This comes from Bongdaplus sources; none of the reports KBVN+ reviewed carries an official statement from the club on the matter.
What comes next
After the trip to Shanghai, CAHN are back in the V.League for round 6 away to SLNA in Vinh at 18:00 on 31 October 2026, according to Sportmonks data. That is a meeting with the team leading the table after the games of 24 October, and Bongdaplus expects Đình Bắc to return for it.
