Công an Hà Nội (CAHN) won 3-2 away to Shanghai Port at the Pudong stadium in Shanghai on 27 October, collecting their first points in the AFC Champions League Elite 2026/27 league stage at the third attempt. Brayan Perea scored twice, Leo Artur scored once and set up the winner, and goalkeeper Nguyễn Filip kept out the hosts' first penalty attempt. VnExpress described it as the first win in CAHN's history in Asia's top club competition, after defeats in their first two matches.
How the goals came
The Vietnamese side led three times and were pegged back twice. Perea opened the scoring in the 35th minute, finishing at close range from Stefan Mauk's cross. Shanghai Port levelled just before half-time when a long-range shot by Ghanaian winger Prince Ampem deflected off defender Frans Putros and looped beyond Filip, as VnExpress and Thanh Niên described it.
Artur restored the lead in the 49th minute, running onto Perea's pass and driving a low shot through a defender's legs to make it 2-1. Portuguese defender Miguel Campos made it 2-2 with a free kick in the 60th minute, but in the 69th minute Cao Pendant Quang Vinh sent Artur away down the left and his cutback gave Perea his second goal.
The tensest moment followed. Nguyễn Adou Leygley Minh conceded a penalty and Filip saved Leonardo's kick, but VAR ruled the goalkeeper had left his line early. Mateus Vital took the retake and hit the post. Shanghai Port pushed through 9 minutes of second-half stoppage time without an equaliser and suffered their first defeat of the campaign.
Counter-attacks instead of possession
Form had pointed the other way. According to VnExpress, Shanghai Port were unbeaten in 13 matches, with 10 wins, and had 4 points from a 6-4 win over Ratchaburi and a 1-1 draw with Daejeon, while CAHN had gone three games without a win. Coach Mano Polking's team let the hosts keep the ball, pressed hard to win it back and broke quickly through Artur, Perea and Alan Grafite.
The VFF website, carrying a report by An ninh Thu do, said both sides had 15 shots, with CAHN putting 5 on target to Shanghai's 4. VnExpress cited a 9.9 Sofascore rating for Artur, the best on the pitch; he also hit the woodwork. About 18,000 spectators attended. Bongdaplus counted 14 defensive actions for captain Đoàn Văn Hậu, including 9 clearances, but also noted a poor clearance in the 94th minute that gave the hosts a close-range chance.
What the win means
The VFF website said it was the first win by a Vietnamese club in Asia's top competition since the format changed in 2024, and the federation awarded CAHN 300 million dong. With 3 points from three games, CAHN are provisionally 11th of the 16 teams in the East, according to VnExpress and Thanh Niên, one point behind Shanghai Port, according to the AFC website. Vissel Kobe lead on 9 points from three wins, while Pohang Steelers, Port FC and Newcastle Jets have yet to score a point.
