Vietnam’s industrial production rose 12.4% over the first ten months of 2026, while realised FDI reached an estimated US$24.08 billion. The Government News overview and the National Statistics Office’s October report show growth across production, investment and consumption, alongside weaker business entry and continuing price pressure.

Investment figures describe different stages

October industrial output increased an estimated 2.3% month on month and 15% year on year. Ten-month output rose in 33 localities; Sơn La declined 5%. Industrial-enterprise employment on October 1 was 3.2% higher than a year earlier.

Registered foreign investment reached US$54.85 billion by October 31, up 74%, while realised FDI rose 13.1% to US$24.08 billion. Registration includes new commitments, adjustments and equity transactions; realised investment is a different measure of implementation.

The original statistical report also puts ten-month state-budget investment implementation at VND783.9 trillion, 69% of the annual plan and up 19.8%. That figure should retain its own statistical definition rather than being substituted for another spending measure.

Consumption grows, with price effects

Retail sales and consumer-service revenue reached VND6,618.9 trillion, up 13.5% at current prices and 7.7% after price adjustment. International arrivals totalled 19.5 million, up 13.8%.

Meanwhile, newly established and reactivating businesses fell 4.8%. Average CPI rose 4.57% and core inflation 4.24%. Subsequent year-end releases will show how production and implemented investment translate into demand and business activity. Comparing nominal and price-adjusted growth keeps those developments in their respective measurement frameworks.
