The cast of Cuốn truyện bị đốt have discussed preparation and collaboration in a Thanh Niên interview. The Hồng Vân theatre production recently competed at the expanded Hanoi Theatre Festival 2026, exploring wartime memories and postwar changes through four characters.
Four fictional lives
Ốc Thanh Vân plays Thu Hằng, Nhật Kim Anh portrays Thắm, Hoàng Khôi plays Vũ Lâm and Hoàng Trung Anh takes the role of Hiệp. Their different circumstances allow the play to explore affection, sacrifice and lasting hurt. These experiences belong to the fictional characters, rather than the performers' biographies.
Psychologically demanding roles require emotional control, dialogue and live responses. The interview shows rehearsals as a process of building shared situations, not simply learning each actor's separate lines.
Returning to theatre and finding chemistry
Nhật Kim Anh described returning after roughly ten years as a substantial challenge. After concentrating on business, she needed to reacquaint herself with live performance rhythms and coordination, without the pauses available during screen production. She discussed concerns and preparation for Thắm.
Hoàng Trung Anh recalled feeling embarrassed during romantic scenes with his senior colleague and initially struggling to meet her eyes. His comments concern performing a scene, not a private relationship.
Ốc Thanh Vân acknowledged being demanding with Hoàng Khôi during rehearsals, saying strictness helped improve the role and their coordination. Alongside professional discussion, the cast exchanged humorous stories. The interview's new material concerns how they worked together; it does not announce an award result for the production.
