Recovery after a difficult first set

Đào Văn Ly advanced to the last 64 at the fifth stop of the 2026-27 PBA Tour in South Korea after defeating home player Kim Min-geon 3-1. The three-cushion event opened on October 20 with nine Vietnamese players in the field.

Kim dominated the opening set, producing a seven-point run and finishing in five visits. Văn Ly scored only two points as he lost 2-15. The Vietnamese player then steadied his game and won the next three sets 15-6, 15-12 and 15-12, completing the comeback.

Other Vietnamese results and upcoming matches

Nguyễn Huỳnh Phương Linh and Ngô Đình Nại also reached the last 64. They defeated Lee Dae-woong and Lim Teak-dong respectively, each by a 3-0 score. Former PBA Tour champion Mã Minh Cẩm was eliminated after a 0-3 loss to Jeong Hae-chang.

The opening round of 128 continues on October 21. The remaining Vietnamese players scheduled to begin are Thón Viết Hoàng Minh, Nguyễn Quốc Nguyện, Nguyễn Trần Thanh Tạo, Trần Đức Minh and Nguyễn Đức Anh Chiến. Their inclusion is a fixture list, not confirmation that they have advanced.

Thanh Tạo and Quốc Nguyện won the previous two PBA Tour stops. Thanh Tạo recovered to beat Samih Sayginer in an August final, while Quốc Nguyện defeated David Martinez 4-1 in the October 12 final. Those earlier titles provide context for the next group of Vietnamese appearances without changing the completed October 20 results.
