Manchester United reposted a clip from the 2021-22 season on its X account on October 5, showing Edinson Cavani continuing to chase a ball after Cristiano Ronaldo stopped. VnExpress reported that the archive footage prompted discussion about effort and the club's intended message. United has not publicly explained why it selected that sequence. The video documents an earlier season rather than a new match incident. Interpretations offered by supporters or other media therefore remain interpretations, rather than an official statement by the club about Ronaldo.
